PostSubject: A beginners guide to BoB   A beginners guide to BoB I_icon_minitime29.05.09 1:32

Hello and welcome to a beginners guide to bob. This guide will cover game basics including: The start menu, navigating the lobby, game types, units abilities and how to use them, fortress, maps, how to create your own map and more. Also this is a safe haven for beginners questions. The more people that play B.O.B the more fun it will be.

Before we begin I recommend u visit the Brotherhood of battle home page. http://brotherhoodofbattle.com/
Here u will find video tutorials, information about the game, screenshots, and so much more.

A beginners guide to BoB Brotherhoodofbattle

The start menu of brotherhood of battle has 4 options: Play Game, How to Play, Editor, and Options. Play Game takes u to a log in screen where u can choose between 2 servers to play in Beldor or Narwyn. You can also type in a username and password and select register or choose to sign in as a Guest to experience the game before hand. Choosing the How to Play option will take you to the games tutorial. This is a good way to get a feel for your units and the layout of the game. The Editor is a custom map builder. Using it will allow you to design and use personalized maps in the game. And the Options button is basically game settings. Adjusting these settings will make the game run smoothly for you. study

A beginners guide to BoB Lobby

Navigating the lobby:
In the lobby there are 2 tabs on the top of the page. First tab is the lobby and the 2nd tab is called game browser. The lobby tab is where u will see general chat from players in the game. On the right there is a list of all players currently available to play games on the server. Each player has a gem next to their name on the left to indicate what rank they are.

The rank list is:
5pts- Weak
20pts- Novice
40pts- Trainee
75pts- Recruit
120pts- Soldier
200pts- Captain
300pts- Commander
500pts- Warmaster
750pts- Overlord
1000pts- King
2000pts- Titan
3000pts- Demigod
5000pts- GOD

You can add players to your friend list by clicking on the triangle next to their name and selecting add friend or typing /friend <type there name here> in the chat box. You can also block players the same way.

The game browser is where u go to look for custom and allied games to play or create a game for others to join. These games do not give u points towards your rank but are a great way to just play for fun or to try out new custom made maps. Its also the only place where allied games are available. Otherwise known as team games. A quick way to make games is by typing /create in the chat window.
At the bottom of your lobby screen there is a quick play button. Under quick play u can choose to play a 2 player beginner match (this will not give u points). Or select your game preference from 2, 3 and 4 player points match (these will give points regardless if u win or lose). Losing gives you 1/4 of the points you would receive for a win.

Next to quick play is your rank. Placing your mouse over the gem will show your game stats. How many games you've won or lost under each battle type. Next to your rank gem is ur banner. You can click on it to change ur banner picture and color. As you gain rank more banner pictures will open up.

And last there are three option in the far right corner of the lobby: Changes, Help and Exit lobby. Changes tells the version and latest patch of bob and what improvements were made to the game. Help option gives more information about: ranks and banners, earning points, quick play, custom matches, game types, lobby chat commands, and rank list. And the exit lobby does exactly what it says exits you from the lobby back to the start menu. study

PostSubject: Game types   A beginners guide to BoB I_icon_minitime30.05.09 16:34

B.O.B has five game types that are available to play against 2, 3 and 4 players. When selecting quick play game you can set your preferred game type to any game, assault, capture the flag, brotherhood battle, gold rush, or capture and hold. This allows you a higher chance of getting the game type you have selected.

A beginners guide to BoB Assault

The objective of an Assault game is to destroy enemies orbs. The amount of orbs needed to eliminate your opponents and win the game depends on how many players are in the game. Usually its 1 or 2 orbs per player.

A beginners guide to BoB Capturetheflag

Capture the flag (ctf) is a more common style game where you need to successfully pick up the enemy flag with one of your units and bring it to your flag to win.

Brotherhood battle (bhb) is basically similar to a gladiators death match. Each player has 5 units. A knight, archer, rogue, mage and priest. There is no fortress, gold mines or reinforcements. Eliminate the enemy units and be the last man standing to achieve victory.

Gold rush is a race to achieve the gold limit before your opponent. Scores are updated after all players have had their turn. First to 2500 gold wins. Tied games continue until one player gains the higher gold amount. Spending too much of your income on new units or abilities for your army can give your opponent a quick advantage in this game type. So watch your spending. And take control of gold mines to quickly achieve your victory.

A beginners guide to BoB Captureandhold

Capture and hold (cth) has large circular wells placed in the center of the map. Take control of mana well(s) by having more units on it then ur opponent. Keep control of the mana well by the beginning of your next turn to score a point. First to reach the set points wins the match ( usually 10 or 20 points).

Because the domain had expired. It happened a long time ago.
